Once In A Lifetime Experience
If you want to take a dip in the Arctic Ocean, see the oil fields of Alaska's North Slope and observe the unique wildlife of the Arctic, there’s only one place to go—The Arctic Caribou Inn. Here in the heart of North America’s most inhospitable climate you will find some of the most hospitable people you will ever meet.
Tours
The Arctic Caribou Inn operates a tour company, Tatqaani Tours, an Inupiat word which means “way up or way out north.” These tours take about 2 hours and depart 4 times daily from the Arctic Caribou Inn between May 25th and September 1st. During this tour you have the opportunity to view hundreds of waterfowl, caribou, bears and other wildlife native to the area. You will also visit the oil fields and hear how the oil companies actively promote environmentally friendly practices on the North Slope. Finally, you will also have the chance to take a dip or a dive into the Arctic Ocean.
On particularly full tour days, the staff at the Arctic Caribou Inn will host a “Heritage Hour” where the Inupiaq members of the staff put on an educational hour about the NANA region and Alaska history. There are displays of Alaskan Native art, furs and sometimes samples of Native foods.
